How to make a flower arrangement for Easter with planted flowers

A very simple and organic way to decorate your home this Easter is to use seasonal planted flowers placed in a nice bowl container you find in your home. It can be also a deeper plate or a salad glass bowl filled with a mix of sand and soil. Any flowers you can get your hands on are just great, but there are certain blooms that are more often associated with the spring holiday that are easier to get this time of year,

Tulips are the obvious choice for spring decorations of any kind, but they are never disappointing. You can grow these from bulbs indoors over the winter but also find them in most stores in early spring. For the demonstration I have chosen here the yellow tulips which I bought at the grocery shop in a pot.

Hyacinths. Another spring beauty, the hyacinth flower is often found in pots in stores in the spring and has a lovely scent that will last long and will enhance your decoration.

White Crocus.

Daffodils. There’s nothing like sunny yellow daffodils to convey the joy of spring. You can grow these from bulbs or pick them up at the shop just before Easter.

Crocus.Crocus are beautiful spring-flowering bulbs available in a variety of colors. You will easily find them in pots in any supermarket when you go and make your next shopping.

Hydrangea. The name Hydrangea comes from the Greek word “hydor”, meaning water, and “angos” meaning vessel. This roughly translates to “water barrel,” referring to the flower’s need for lots of water. Hydrangea colors range from white to blue or pink and purple. Incorporate these large fluffy blooms into your home décor.

Other potted flowers like daisies, campanula, English lavender works perfectly and adds variety, color and texture to your decoration.

You can also combine your spring flowers with other symbols of Easter, like eggs, forsytnthia or pussy willow branches. Use your decorated eggs to add color and interest to the soil around the flowers in their pots..

Materials needed: garden gloves, garden sheer, moss and soil, 3 to 5 spring potted flowers, decorative branches, decorative eggs or quail, natural color chicken eggs, glass or ceramic deep container or a decorative wooden box..

Step by step instructions

  1. Since is going to be a dirty business, I recommend you wear the garden gloves in order to protect your hands and nails. However, if you wish to achieve a more hands on experience you can use your bare hands.

  2. Place some moss at the bottom of your container.

  3. Add soil bought from any garden shop or left overs from your past gardening sessions.

  4. Pull out the flowers from their planter together with their roots with the help of the garden sheer as some flowers can be strongly rooted in the planter.

  5. Arrange the flowers in the container and plant it in such a way that you create a cascading effect: the taller flower in the middle or in the back of your design followed by shorter flowers. Combine it in such a way that creates a pleasing view from all sides.

  6. Add the rests of the soil from the planters to cover the roots and at the end the rest of the moss. In case you cannot get hold of the moss you can replace it with small stones or the pussy willow buds.

  7. Decorate the arrangement with natural colored eggs for minimalist look, but any decorative eggs will do.

  8. Spray some water once in a while to keep it fresh for longer.

Once Easter is over, you can plant the flowers in the garden or save the bulbs for next spring.
